Conference Notes

Today, I attended the following sessions:
First General Session from 10 a.m. to noon.
Making a Difference Together from 1 p.m. to 1:15
Put Your Toe in the Water from 1:15 to 2 p.m.
Making the Connection from 2 p.m. to 2:45
Don't get Caught Holding the Bag from 3 to 4 p.m.

I found the First General Session to be the most inspirational. Lots of good information in it that I plan to share with my colleagues. Making a Difference session contains a neat actitity which I might use in my classes at the beginning of the year for an ice breaker. Making the Connection exercise should have been used in conjunction with the testimonials about CTSOs. Dont't get Caught Holding the Bag reminded me that being a CTSO advisor is as scary (liability wise) as I always thought it was.

  1. Today I attended the First General Session, which was very motivating and energizing, followed by a delicious lunch....we must remember the food!!!!! The afternoon was started out by Making a Difference Together which at different learning communities. We then continued into Put Your Toe in the Waking and Making the Connection which both dealt with student organizations and how to create and motivate students into joining your organizations. Lastly was Don't Get Caught Holding the Bag where Raymond Keener presented on the legal aspects of student organizations, which was a bit scary yet helpful when deciding how and what to do with your student organizations. All in all I enjoyed the first day and as usual it was informative and educational.

  2. Abby,
I attended general session today liked the speaker about PLC ,collaborations, we definately need to do more collaborations w/ the acedemic teachers even though that is a hurdle sometimes. Then we had lunch which I though yezterdays was much better. Then we had.our HOST session which was about learning styles.and CORE . Both of these was a review but that OS not a bad thing and a needed reminder that students do not learn the same way. Now I have.to brag I am blogging from my phone! Hope it works .
