Overall I have enjoyed many of the aspects of the conference especially the three I attended today. The following in order were the ones I chose to be a part of and my takes on them.
Computer Certifications through Certiport.
Being CompTIA certified made me a bit prejudice about other testing programs mainly because Certiport isn't the industry standard where CompTIA is. That particular session was more a sales pitch instead of an information exchange. I can see a few benifits for lower level learning and certifications but not as an industrial certification.
Cisco Packet Tracer
Was a very good presentation and very informative. Loved the free software "Packet Tracer" that was given out in a full version. I attended that particular presentation mainly for an alternative class to compliment the lighter network criteria that is part of the CompTIA certifications. The presentors gave some realy good reasons to suppliment any network type class with a stronger and more indepth version of networking.
FIRST Robotics and 21st Century Learning.
Probably was my favorite session of the day. It was brilliant for the presentor to allow the actual students who built and competed on the project present the project. Was some very good information and sources for funding. I also agree we should be a state wide competition should take place to pick a representative for WV.
I have been teaching for 10 years and this is my first conference and was realy suprised how much information that I have missed on the state level by not attending.
