Conference Notes 7/29/2010

Abby,

I could really relate to what the speaker in our morning general session was saying since I used to teach at a multi-county vocational school. Due to declining enrollment, I had to transfer back to one of the county high schools in order to have a job. I like the concept of Techademic. I am going to discuss this with my principal with the hope that our school can collaborate class assignments between academic and career tech and hopefully have some common planning time.

Be Our Guest--students as customers--certainly gave me something to think about. The session on open source applications was very helpful. I can't wait to try some of the new applications. My favorite session of the day was Let's Star in the Movies. I just started using Movie Maker so this session was exactly what I needed; however, I think all of us were really excited when the speaker informed us about using a WebTop account.

The Focus on Concentration session gave all of us time to share our ideas on how to improve business ed. It was interesting to see what each of us are doing in our counties. I hope to see some of our suggestions implemented in the future. To end my day, I joined WVBEA.
