Conference Notes 7/30

Abby,

After our meeting this morning, I attended the session pertaining to project based assessments for completers. I agreed with all the suggestions that were made today. Professional development for teachers and administrators would be a great way to start so we can know exactly how to prepare our students. I believe students should be given the rubric before testing so they know in advance what the stardards for the testing will be. I was especially excited about the idea of allowing a student to be a completer with three required courses in the cluster. In the past, we have always had many students who lacked only one course to attain completer status. Hopefully these suggestions will be implemented.

The second session with Kathryn Mace could have been much better if we were not in the same room with other groups. The information she was presenting to us was very useful, but I simply couldn't hear everything she was saying. I am looking forward to working with her; I believe she will welcome our input.

I will see everyone Sunday evening. I will be staying at the Marriott. My cell is 304-261-6866.
