The EdVenture Continues and IT IS a WINNER

Sitting with some of the conference participants at lunch, I made the comment about never winning the door prizes at events like the Technology Conference. At the 3:05 session that streak was broken when I won the "Handheld Interactive Whiteboard" (The Interwrite Mobi). At a couple of the other sessions, I saw the presenters using the hand held tablets and I coveted the technical tool. In my mobile traveling class, I knew that I could use it, so as the eInstruction representative collected the sheets of papers, I said a quick prayer and as the name was drawn I could see my name on the sheet. Amen Hallelujah
The rest of the day provided the opportunity to make contact with a representative of the WVU Office of Instructional Technology. Ashley had previously presented in a AM session about the PREZI program. In the 2:15 session, representatives from the IT department at Marshall had presented about a interactive program WIMBA that is utilized with the current online course platform Blackboard. I was informed by the MU reps that WVU also had the site license. Upon leaving that session, Ashley was able to link me with the WVU website for training and approval.
Also in the PM session, I participated in a discussion forum with other Higher Education faculty in Teacher Education about the integration of technology in Teacher Preparation programs. This session was sponsored by the Office of Professional Preparation.

  1. Hello Abby,
Today started out with horrific rains and thunder. The first session I went to was Prezi, and the day was already sunnier! The information was very good, however the presenter was very nervous and it showed. She was very sweet and I think with a little more experience she will be great.
The next session I went to was a thorough explanation followed by an exciting and interactive real-life demonstration of Interactive Whiteboard technology with Promethean.
Then we got in a little group project time before lunch.
After lunch, I went to a session on Smart Responders and Smart resources in the classroom. They were very engaging, knowledgeable and exciting. For a corporate session, they were great.
The last session I went to for the day was the Web Quest/Infomercials. Although the information was very good, I wish we could have had more time to explore the WebTop information in a little more detail.
From this session, a group of us drove over to the State Capital building for a tour and dinner. The food was great! The building was impressive. In addition, the company was beyond compare! Overall, it was another great day.
Hey Richard, Thank you for the great suggestion, it seems a shame to have the Tech Team whip ya so bad!!
