ReplyDeleteMy Fashion Class and Child Development classes have been grouped and assigned specific topics related to the field of study. I started I September demonstrating Prezi's while teaching. I think my presentations hooked the students. Then Carrie Calloway (our TIS) helped me intro Prezi prep to the students. After a while I actually helped present the Prei lesson to Faculty members after school. This Month the students will present their prezi's.
I am working on setting the sites to edline and creating some assignments to each prezi that students can do as a follow up evaluation to each lesson.
Flip cams were use in my Life Connections to enhance our "Bathroom Stalls" reading. The students picked topics and took a stand or taught tools by video. Like how to destress. This is the first time most of these student's recorded self...This will be a work in progress until they get past the simple watching of self.
Some of the lessons are very good and we are going to display them on the t.v that all students see all day in the lobby area of our school.
I also helped present Glogsters to our faculty. I was able to show samples of my students Glogs that they created in October. A few students have now made glogs that will enhance our Marriage/Mock wedding unit. We will display the glogs and I will place them on edline to enhance critical thinking skills.
I created a blog for life commection students to discuss various ideas related to recycling and marriage the students are blogging slowly but surely. The more I impress a grade scale the less lazy they get. I think they are starting to get "into it"

marriagemhs.blogspot.com . In retrospect I think I should have created a WIKI so the students could actually sign up for things and so on. So now we are working on that..I will keep you posted. Oh and by the way...this TIS thing is a lot of fun! We may grumble and think it is busy work, but...if we really apply it and envision it with our students and know the impact we are having on their future...we are making a difference in the way the students view technology. I realize ,though they are the digital natives...I grew up in a era where taking risks and trying new educational tools was a must. I am happy to be a part of such a fantabulouw group of individuals! Thank you, Lisa
